This project involved designing a couple’s logo and wedding stationery.
A friend of mine asked if I would design her wedding save the dates and invitations (and programs, menus and thank you cards). I was thrilled – she trusted me with the task, and I was excited to put my design skills to use.
At the time, I lived in Pennsylvania and she lived in Washington, DC, so we mainly communicated via emails throughout the creation process. She told me what her idea for the stationery was: She wanted a DC skyline and a custom logo for her and her fiance. I made their branding happen!
For the logo, I used their initials and the shape of DC. The heart in the logo is in the area of DC where the couple first met. For the skyline, I found images of several recognizable DC landmarks and outlined them in Illustrator.
I even researched how tall each building is in real life and scaled the outlines to each other accordingly.
